Mental Health Through An Intersectional Lens on MEETSSS conference

The global network of women in the music industry, Shesaid.so, based in London and Los Angeles, will present a team of British company Pioneer DJ with a discussion on mental health in music at their first MEETSSS conference in Portimao, Portugal, 3 - 6 October 2019.

The speaker on this panel will be Pioneer DJ General Manager, Mark Grotefeld.

The focus of the discussion will be on mental health in the business, whether a creative or an executive, is influenced by social media pressure, self-doubt, unrealistic expectations, gender and racial discrimination and so forth.

“For 25 years, we’ve believed our company is more than just a product manufacturer. Behind our brand is a team of people who are passionate members of the dance music community and, through Pioneer DJ, we’re driven to support the well-being of our friends and colleagues including artists, DJs, managers, promoters and clubbers. Our documentary “Slaves to the Rhythm” explored the serious issue of how artists’ mental health can be adversely affected by touring, and our forthcoming film “Insta DJ” takes a deep dive into the darker effects of social media’s widespread use on the dancefloor. Harnessing our close relationships with artists, we’re committed to continue raising awareness and creating safe platforms for constructive discussions around these issues.” - added Mark Grotefeld.

The global network of women in the music industry, Shesaid.so works to connect and empower underrepresented communities in the music industry with a focus on women.
