Harvesting and drying
The flower of this plant is white or pink. The height of the stem is 30 to 70 centimeters. The leaves of young plants are light green, and the older the plant, the darker the leaves. Its name, millefolium, translated from Latin means "thousand leaves", which refers to the leaves of this plant whose leaves are small and numerous.
This plant is wild, resistant to cold, heat, drought and moisture, and grows in nature without any great demands. You can find it in meadows, glades, orchards, rocky areas, along roads and paths and even in neglected yards.
It is important to note that when picking yarrow (but also all other plants) you must be careful because it can be found even in polluted areas near roads. It blooms from the beginning of June until late autumn.
The flowers are best picked during the strong sun, because then the highest concentration of essential oils is, so the healing properties are stronger.
If it is harvested for drying then it is the perfect time to harvest in late summer and early fall.
Flowers or the whole stem are picked for drying because the remaining, lower part of the stem does not have many medicinal properties. It can be dried by tying the flower clusters with string into small bundles, which are then hung in a dry and dark place. In a few days they will be dry and then you can store them.
